Been using SharePoint for last 5 years or so to manage content across hundreds of sites. Main aim has been to keep consistency of metadata (columns) across those sites to enable effective Advanced search and ensure the top quality content is easily visible. Created own taxonomy management tool to enable this.

I've been working with / around / against SharePoint for @2 years, and have more bad than good experiences with the application. I hope I can gather kernels of hope from each fo you..and that I might give you assistance in your work, as well.
