Per slashdot.org yesterday, ISO has put the Office Open XML spec. on hold until they can resolve the appeals brought by 4 different countries that I cannot remember off the top of my head...

Office Open XML ratified as ISO standard!!!

What will be the ramifications of this to the progress of XML in general and in particular how Microsoft continues to develop its own products.

What do the purests thinks. More room for discussions I think.
