Hi Karen,

In my work for Mekon we wrote a paper on S1000D and DITA. It was in collaboration with an S1000D specialist (I'm familiar with both but specialise in DITA). It's going to be made available through X-Pubs.com as part of Mekon's event sponsorship. You can register your interest on x-pubs.com on the 'get contacted' form. Let them know you're after the whitepaper and you can probably get sent a copy prior to 'official' release.

Also note that the annual conference is one of the world's only that focus on both S1000D and DITA under one roof with speakers on both commitees. You also can get a discount as a TCW Community member.

See here for more.

Karen - I am not sure what linking strategies you are looking for. Internal references within a Data Module (think DITA Topic) are done similar to DITA - as xrefs (ex. , but external references are handled in more complex way through element (which is broken down into DMC components). The references to locations in the middle of another Data Module are possible (Spec has a mechanism to do it), but are not recommended.

If you can provide more detail about what you are looking for I might be able to more fully answer your question.
