What are you working on?

To get things rolling, let's tell each other about the projects we're working on. As for me, I spend about a third of my time as a tech writer working on product manuals and help systems. The rest... Continue

Hi, all: Since we have been discussing the tools that we use, I thought I would start a new thread and focus on the methodology underlying a good training course or tutorial. Since many of us wear... Continue

Is anyone using Articulate for rapid e-learning development?

Just noticed this group and thought I'd join, as this is a subset of the type of issue of what I encounter when I talk about content convergence. I'm working on a project right now where we have a very short timeline to create training docs and post-training docs (in other words, user docs, though the client isn't calling it that), plus some other deliverables, all slightly different, in a very short timeline. The only way that I can see to do this is to create extremely portable, topic-based content, and allow it to be mixed-n-matched into the multiple audience and media outputs. The client rep keeps saying "Have I told you how glad I am that you're on board?" I guess the other potential contractors all were linear-thinking, word-processing types whose outputs would have been significantly less. I had started a content convergence group, but I don't think people "get it" yet, so I thought I'd go where the action is.

Afternoon, all:

I'm currently working a project to "re-brand" (pardon the corporate speak - that's what they call this kind of project around here) a technical library related to a telecommunications product (hardware and software) into a training "system" that addressses sales, call center, operations, customer service, field support, and biling-releated services and personnel. The training will be presented as a traditional platform-based formal training program, and as an interactive multimedia program...oh! and by the way, when we're done with all that, we're to "re-re-brand" everything so that the content can be "placed" on the company's knowledge management system for read recall and/or reuse.
