Ning's interface for adding a comment on a thread in a group is a bit weak - you have to click the "read more..." link on the thread, and then choose one of the "reply" links.
Glad to hear you think the group is useful, please do copy and paste your comment to my discussion on the the Teleworking group as well, as it's brilliant feedback! I've done a couple of projects (before my current role) with distributed teams, and it's a real challenge if there are time zone differences - but it can work very well indeed!
PS - I know exactly what you mean about "conservative" workplaces. There's a difference between getting along great with people and wanting to be their friend! (semi) Forced socialising does not for a happy and cohesive team make.
