The Masters and technical writing?

Within writing departments, if they are large enough, you could probably rank everyone like players are ranked on the PGA tour. Number of wins (projects delivered on time) Sand saves (projects rescued) Greens in regulation (edits per page) Scoring average (pages per day) Who's the Tiger Woods of your technical writing world?

Small teams rock

The Sunday conference call to get agreement on the software release is going well. Between people logging in and off the network the issues resulting in the late release have all been contained in two email trails. The trails are now so long, they contain test result data, status of actions items, decision points, and group discussion points. There is some advantage to this. With fewer people online at the same time, responding at different times of the day, there aren't enough people online t… Continue

Working for the weekend

You can tell when someone works on the weekend because they have to. Their emails are sparse, to the point, and often misspelled. They aren't working for the weekend, they are working because the week bleeds into the weekend; because there is just more work that work hours. There were 16 emails in my inbox this Saturday morning; only two were auto-generated, without associated actions. Xavier has a good signature in his emails. The SmartCar was great for the narrow, snow-filled streets in both Ottawa and Kingston. Not a vehicle for off-roading, though! I think you are going to drown in the spring, when all this melts. I remember a couple of winters like this from my childhood... fun for jumping out the second story windows into the fluffier snow (not the crusty stuff scraped off the streets and piled up.)

I had to drop a line and say hello because a) you're in Ottawa and b) you have Wallace in your icon. Perfect.
Here's a sweet moment from my recent visit home, to the fair city in which you reside.

It doesn’t have to be like this. Read our new whitepaper, Best Practices of Global Product Information to find out how you can streamline and enhance the processes you use of communicate global product information.
