Tutorial: TotalLMS Password Change

Test Driving SlideShare Cathy Moore has inspired me to give SlideShare.net a try, so I quickly created a PowerPoint 2007 slide show. For a tutorial, I chose a simple subject: How to change a user’s password in SumTotalSystem’s TotalLMS 7.2, and I used PPT 2007 for the first time since it was recently installed on my computer. PPT [...]

I Am Avatar, I am JayCee Galicia

RL Jenise Morphs into SL JayCee Galicia! On 22 June 2008, I was born in Second Life. For the newbies out there, “RL” means Real Life and “SL” stands for Second Life. My avatar’s name is JayCee Galicia. JayCee, obviously, for my initials in RL, and Galicia from the list of 20 SL last names made [...]

Librarians in Second Life | Video of the Month 200806

I am Librarian, I am Avatar Well, wow! I don’t remember librarians at school looking like these who inhabit Second Life (SL)! Seriously, even though this is not a video but a Slideshare.com presentation, I was very impressed by it. Bernadette Daly Swanson, a Librarian at the University of California at Davis, has published an engaging and informative [...]

Free ISD #1 | Welcome & Introduction

Instructional Systems Design Education | The Frugal Way Gas prices for regular grade (87) at my local Costco are rising close to $4.70-9/10…well, as of today. And, everyone talks about rising fuel costs just like people talked about rising real estate prices during 2004-2006. As fuel costs rise, the cost for anything and everything increases. Neighbors and [...]

Content & Design Dilemma

About this Blog…Status For a few weeks, I left the previous post “first-page visible” for my nephew and his colleagues in his school district. And, while they checked out those wonderful online resources, I had time to contemplate my blogging navel. “Always Learning”, I realized that a dilemma diligently dogged my approach to this blog: The “Content vs. [...]

Free Web 2.0 Learning Resources

The link in this post is for anyone, but especially for my wonderful nephew Chris. He’s an awesome elementary school teacher, and I’ll probably brag about him in future posts! http://zaidlearn.blogspot.com/2008/04/free-learning-tool-for-every-learning.html Zaid Ali Algasoff put together a long and very helpful list for budget-conscious public-school instructors. Um, that includes 99.9% of them! (I taught in a Community [...]

Engage’s Circle Diagram

Warning: Some Silliness Ahead In the corporate world, the e-learning courses I’ve worked on fall mainly under two categories: Human Resources and Compliance/Required. After awhile, I need to stretch my fingers on the keyboard and have some fun! While test driving Articulate’s Engage interaction called the Circle Diagram, a silly, feline muse suddenly came over me. The [...]

I simply ask anyone who reads this post to extend your thoughts and prayers to these residents, and to continue to support the international disaster/aid agencies that can most effectively meet [...]

XML Ambivalence?

Technical communicators and instructional systems designers for e-learning courses find themselves working with XML at some point in their careers. Yet, a degree of ambivalence seems to waft through many conversations these professional have with each other. An emotion-packed ambivalence. For example, I read a post like Jeff Attwood’s on his Coding Horror blog and wonder [...]

Hi - I use Blogspot, not Wordpress. I don't remember seeing any Blogspot doco on OpenID, but I'll take a look.

Hi Jenise,

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner - I am on so many networks now, and I'm still looking for full-time work, so I inadvertantly overlooked your message.

To be honest, I didn't even realize I have an openID! Assuming I know what it is (I don't use too many IDs), how would I go about changing the settings? Is this still necessary?

Please advise. Thanks - Ted

Yes, I've heard of the firewall issues. So far, most folks have went to IT and said "unblock Ning sites" and they do. I believe some IT folks block "social networks" for fear they are dating services and don't contain valuable information, but if you can show your IT folks that your industry networking group resides at TCWC URL I think you stand a good chance of getting them to unblock.

Hi Jenise,

Thanks for the Favicon info - I'll give it a try!
At 11:58pm on March 26th, 2008, Jenise Cook said…
Hello, Ted, welcome!

For the icon, "Google" this keyword: favicon.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Favicon

http://www.favicon.cc/

The favicon icons have been around for 10 years or more, and the download and install are very easy to follow. The software developer has a tutorial that makes it a snap to embed your own custom icon.

As for the sections, um, I don't know how that happened. LOL I think ning/TCWC Web site did that for me. I have yet to have time to customize my page. Maybe this weekend...!

Hi Jenise - welcome to the blogosphere - looks good!

Questions (for you or whoever else reads this):

1) I noticed you have two sections here between your Profile and this Comment Wall - how did you do this? I only have one.

2) This is a bit more general - how do you embed an icon into a web site that appears just to the left of the URL? I noticed the CWC link doesn't display any icon, but your blog displays the RM icon.

Please advise.

Thanks - Ted

Done - I added a whole section about the Courseware Development Blog and Groups, which I created and manage, to My Page. Please consider joining one or more of these groups - I will approve you as needed.

Thanks - Ted
