Job Title:
Technical Writer III
Company Name:
Philips Heathcare
About Me:
I got interested in Technical Writing when I sat down and did a skills analysis on myself (it was a very simple analysis) and went looking for a career that would keep me busy, interested, and growing. In 1989, I graduated from a 3 year diploma course but I haven't stopped growing and being interested. Don't even start me talking about busy. I currently write the measurement and analysis content for ultrasound manuals. I know more about blood flow, volume measurements for various parts of the anatomy, and cardiac diagnosis and repair than you can shake a stick at (unless, of course, it is a me-sized stick). When I'm not hip-deep in content, I work on wrestling our Documentum docbase to the ground, or exploring the tools and techniques of DITA. When I ride the bus home at the end of the day, I transform myself into a peaceful writer and photographer. I walk my dog (and my cat who likes to come along) around my neighbourhood looking at the signs of life. During tax season, I cook dinner for my wife, during the other 8 months of the year, she cooks dinner for me.

Traditionally, though, organizations have faced a fragmented landscape of technology solutions that are bolted together, but don’t work together. Organizations have had to integrate these technologies themselves and cope with the resulting overhead.
It doesn’t have to be like this. Read our new whitepaper, Best Practices of Global Product Information to find out how you can streamline and enhance the processes you use of communicate global product information.
